Thermal project approved
The government has approved Neyveli Lignite Corporation’s proposal for installation of 1,980 MW coal based thermal power project at Ghatampur in Uttar Pradesh
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has given its approval.
The Ghatampur Thermal Power Project (GTPC) will have 1,980 MW (3 X 660 MW) capacity.
The project is being undertaken by a Joint Venture Company named “Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Limited (NUPPL)” formed jointly by Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited (NLC) and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (UPRVUNL).
The project will be implemented at an estimated cost of Rs.17,237.8 crore including Interest During Construction component of Rs.3,202.42 crore.
The commissioning of Unit I, II and III will be 52 months, 58 months and 64 months respectively from starting date.
The project, under the XIII Five Year Plan, will supply about 14,000 MU/annum to Uttar Pradesh.
Ministry of Coal had allotted Pachwara South coal block in Jharkhand State for coal supply to GTPS. fii-news.com
