North East rail projects
Twenty major railway projects specifically for the North East region, costing approximately Rs.52,000 crore, have been taken up by the Government to strengthen the infrastructure and investment opportunities in the North East Region.
Highlighting these projects, #Union Textiles Minister Smriti Zubin Irani said around 715 development projects in the region are being executed, including tie-ups with countries like Bangladesh, Myanmar and China through economic corridors, to ensure the success of the ‘Act East Policy’.
Irani was speaking at the inauguration of 1st #North East Investors’ Summit in Shillong on 29 Jan 2017, where early 20 Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) were signed for collaboration in the region’s textile sector
