Cobham explores manufacturing opportunities
#Cobham is exploring opportunities to manufacture more technology-supported products in India for its global markets.
“It will be part of our supply chain activities,” said H. Shankar, managing director for Cobham India Pvte Ltd at Aero India 2017, held 14-18 February in Bengaluru.
The making of avionics and antenna systems are under discussions with local Indian companies.
“For now, we have a manufacturing agreement with Tata Advanced System Ltd in Hyderabad for the manufacturing of refueling port structure for our global requirements.
“This is a very significant piece of technology. It requires manufacturing expertise. Tata has been doing it for two years,” he said.
Cobham also has a legacy agreement with Hindustan Aeronautical Ltd (HAL) in Lucknow to manufacture ejection release units for a range of aircraft such Jaguar.
This is manufactured under license by HAL for decades now.
