Amaravati project update
A number of building and infrastructure projects are scheduled for completion by 2019 as tenders are in advanced stage of preparation for #Amaravati, a new state capital of #Andhra Pradesh.
“Activities are expected to come to a reasonably good stage in the next six months,” said J. Krishna Kishore, Chief Executive Officer of the state’s #Economic Development Board.
Construction of a good part of government city will start soon and will be partially completed by 2019, he said to fii-news.com at Aero India 2017 held 14-18 Feb in Bengaluru.
Tenders are in the advanced stage of being prepared for the commercial development in the Amaravati, he said.
The projects such as road, electricity, sewerage treatment plants, drinking water, landscaping, smart technologies for transportation, metro and trams will be offered through tenders.
Various models are being looked into financing the development, including Urban Infrastructure Fund, bonds and private sector investors as well as financing through the Indian government.
Land pooling has proven to be one of the most effective part of progressing with the development of Amaravati. Authority has worked out a win-win arrangement with farmers, who have been given commercially viable plots in exchange for their land. This has added value to their assets, and may even become a model for the development of other cities in the country.
Hospitals, malls and universities will bring in people into Amaravati, which will also have an easy access to human resources located around the 185-km ring road.
“One of the main advantage is the 185-km outer ring road coming up. It will take about three years to complete. Land acquisition and design is nearing completion for this road,” said Kishore.
“Within this road zone are eight municipalities with a population of 10 million people, who can access Amaravati within one hour,” he elaborated. fii-news.com
