Andhra Pradesh leads in wind power installation
Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has set another record in the wind power capacity addition by completing 5,400 MW in 2016-17, above its the target of 4,000 MW.
The ministry’s previous record was 3,423 MW installed in 2015-16.
The leading States in the wind power capacity addition during 2016-17 are Andhra Pradesh with 2,190 MW led in the wind power capacity addition in 2016-17, followed by Gujarat 1,275 MW and Karnataka 882 MW.
Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Telangana and Kerala added 357 MW, 288 MW, 262 MW, 118 MW, 23 MW and 8 MW during 2016-17, said the ministry, adding the figures are tentative.
MNRE’s wind energy policy initiatives during the year included Introduction of Bidding in Wind Energy Sector, Re-powering Policy, Draft Wind-Solar Hybrid Policy, New Guidelines for Development of Wind Power Projects among others. fii-news.com
