One lakh affordable housing units to be built in Maharashtra
The Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI) has launched its first affordable housing initiative with an investment of over Rs.38,000 crore to build over two lakh units.
Over one lakh units are to be built in Maharashtra, 41,921 houses in National Capital Region (NRC around Delhi), 28,465 in Gujarat, 7,037 in Karnataka, 6,055 in UP, said Minister of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation M. Venkaiah Naidu.
The affordable house will range from Rs.15 lakh to Rs.30 lakh with average construction cost of Rs.18 lakh per house, according to announcement made at Gandhinagar on 9 April 2017.
The government has earlier approved construction of 17.73 lakh affordable houses for urban poor with an investment of Rs.95,660 crore in 30 States and Union Territories.
The central government is providing Rs.27,879 crore assistance for these houses as part of the Prime Minister’s urban housing scheme launched in June 2015.
The projects are:
Maharashtra (Mumbai, Nagpur, Ahmednagar, Jalna, Banm, Nashik, Malegaon, Pune, Satara, Solapur): 1,03,719 units, investment Rs. 15,576 crore.
Gujarat — (Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar,Rajkot, Mehsana, Bharuch, Bhavnagar, Navsari, Modasa, Palanpur, Swarnakantha, Vadodara, Vapi, Surat): 28,465 units, investment Rs.9,525 crore.
National Capital Region of Delhi: 41,921 units, investment Rs. 6,211 crore.
Karnataka (Bengaluru, Gulbarga, Hubli): 7,037 units, investment Rs.1,679 crore.
Uttar Pradesh (Agra, Allahabad, Bareily, Jhansi, Kanpur and Varanasi): 6,055 units, investment Rs. 1,108 crore.
Rajasthan (Ajmer, Jaipur, Jodhpur): 4,406 units, investment Rs.389 crore.
West Bengal (Kolkata): 2,955 units, investment Rs.663 crore.
Goa: 1,932 units, investment Rs.464 crore.
Telangana (Hyderabad): 1,784 units, investment Rs.663 crore.
Madhya Pradesh (Indore, Ujjain): 1,517 units, investment Rs.284 crore.
Kerala (Trivendrum, Calicut, Kochi, Ernakulam): 1,372 units, investment Rs.186 crore.
Assam (Guwahati): 860 units, investment Rs.145 crore.
Tamil Nadu (Chennai, Coimattore, Tiruchirapalli): 834 units, investment Rs. 145 crore.
Odisha (Bhubaneswar): 520 units, investment Rs.53 crore.
Chattisgarh (Raipur): 244 units, investment Rs.26 crore.
Andhra Pradesh (Tirupati): 50 units, investment Rs.10 crore.
