Capacity expansion underway at two lines.
Detail planning for tenders are being done for the third line of 291-km Sonnagar-Patratu railway project which will transport food grain, iron ore, coal, fertilizer, cement and sugar from Ramgarh, Hazaribagh, Latehar, Palamu & Garhwa districts of Jharkhand and Aurangabad district of Bihar.
It has been sanctioned in December 2016 (2016-17) at the cost of Rs. 3,406.16 crore.
The project along with two other railway capacity expansion were launched by Railways Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu during the inauguration of passenger amenities at Adarsh Station-Salauna on 17 April through video conferencing from Rail Bhavan in New Delhi.
He also announced the work on doubling track capacity of 72-km Hajirpur-Bachhwara which was sanctioned in 2015-16 at Rs.678.54 crore.
It is being executed by IRCON. Tender for Earthwork, Minor & Major bridges has been awarded.
Agency for Earthwork, Minor & Major bridges up to 15-km has been fixed for doubling track capacity of 38-km Samastipur-Darbhanga line.
Its cost was sanctioned in 2015-16 at Rs.491.01 crore. fii-news.com
