Tenders for 33 wayside amenities to be floated by June 2017.
The developments of Mumbai-Vadodara, Bangalore-Chennai and Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressways are to be sanctioned by June 2017, said The Minister of Road Transport & Highways and Shipping, Nitin Gadkari.
Tender for 33 wayside amenities is also to be floated by June 2017, he said while reviewing National Highway Authority of India’s (NHAI) projects on 18 April 2017.
Electronic Toll Collection will be made available on all lanes on all toll plazas by 31 March 2018.
The minister has also called for fast track award and construction of NHAI’s projects, National Highways projects. In a review of NHAI projects today, Shri Gadkari said that while
Work needs to be done at a much faster pace to award more projects and construct those that have been awarded, said Gadkari, announcing the award for the best performing Project Director and Regional Officer.
A record 16,271 km of national highways have been awarded and 8,231 km constructed during 2016-17, he pointed out.
Gadkari has also called on state governments to cooperate in resolving land acquisition which is one of the big hurdles in implementing projects.
Other issues such as forest clearances, appointment of independent engineers should also be resolved, he said. fii-news.com
