India aims to double German investments in five years.
The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, have concluded his visit to Germany, having signed 12 agreements to promote bilateral relations and trade.
Modi co-chaired on 30 May 2017 the 4th India Germany Inter-Govermental Consultations in Berlin with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
It is one of the biggest consultation meeting India has with Germany.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed India’s commitment to generate 175 GigaWatts of energy from renewable sources by 2022.
Emphasizing the importance of protecting nature, he said “playing with the well-being of future generations would be an immoral and criminal act.”
Modi has also emphasized the big role that the European Union has to play in nurturing a rule-based global order.
Both leaders shared deep concern over the global menace of terrorism, and decided to strengthen mutual counter-terrorism initiatives.
Commenting on Modi’s visit to Germany, former Ambassador Gurjit Singh said India is working to increase the number of German companies’ participation in Indian projects.
“We want to double the number of German companies in India to 3,600 from 1,800,” said Singh during to a forum at the Institute of South Asian Studies in Singapore.
He said India is also expected to double German investment over the next five years from the current 9.5 billion euros made during 2000-2016.
Singh said India has attracted about 74 German companies in recent times with combined business plans worth US$1 billion investments. fii-news.com
