Sister companies seek in-depth knowledge of market
Marine Data Systems Ltd and Comar Systems Ltd are two UK sister companies looking for a strong market representation in India for distributing their high-tech products and to conduct in-depth market studies.
Marine Data Systems Ltd (MDSL) develops and manufactures a wide range of compass and gyro repeaters, transmitting heading devices (THDs), rudder instrumentation, navigation displays and power and data interfaces – including interfaces for legacy synchro-based systems.
Sister company Comar Systems Ltd (CSL) is a specialist in the development and manufacture of VHF marine AIS (automatic identification system) receivers and transponders that are used worldwide in the leisure and commercial sectors.
Both companies have been pioneers in their respective fields since the late 1970s.
“We now need a representation to study and build in-depth knowledge of the Indian market,” said Tim Ingram, Chief Executive Officer of both companies.
“Booming Asian economies are creating demand from the shipping and marine sectors as well as from land-based operations.
“It is therefore essential for us to have an understanding of the Indian market potential; this is why we are looking for an agent, distributor or partner for our products,” he explained during the International Maritime Defence Exhibition (IMDEX) held in Singapore, 16-18 May 2017. At present, the companies have a steady supply chain in India through non-exclusive distributors.
“But over the longer-term, Tim Ingram is aware of having to manage the high transportation costs of products and a manufacturing base in Asia – especially India – would be a solution for this.”
Marine Data and Comar products are currently manufactured at an efficiently managed facility on the Isle of Wight, UK, based on order specifications. fii-news.com
