Jharkhand to have Plastic Hub
The India government has approved a Rs.120 crore Plastic Park for making polymer prodcuts in Deoghar District in Jharkhand.
Announcing this on 20 Mar 2018, Minister for Chemicals & Fertilizers Ananthkumar said 150-acre park will have industry for woven sacks, moulded furniture, water tanks, bottles, pipes mosquito nets.
The park has great potential for attracting investment for setting up an ecosystem for plastic industry and generate employment opportunities for the local populace.
The Minister also requested the Jharkhand State governmentto facilitate land/building infrastructure for a Central Institute for Plastic Engineering & Technology (CIPET) alongside the Plastic Park.
The CIPET would train plastic engineers and technicians.
Polymer consumption in India would double from the current 10 million metric tonnes to 20 million metric tonnes by 2022, he said.
Ananthkumar also announced a Rs.3.5 crore Plastic Recycling unit at Deoghar.
The Park, CIPET and Recycling unit would become an ecosystem for a Plastic Hub at Deoghar in the future, said. fii-news.com
