Farm produce cargo hub for international markets
The Civil Aviation Ministry is in talks with the World Bank and other major institutions to promote Goa as a market destination, said Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu.
He also disclosed that Goa is being promoted as a tourism destination and a cargo hub in a collaboration with the state government.
The state’s Dabolim airport is currently undergoing Rs.300 crore of renovation while a second airport at Mopa will be ready by in the second half of 2020.
Dabolim Airport will continue to remain operational along with Mopa, he told reporters on 16 April on inspecting the renovation work.
Transportation of cargo will help farmers access international market, said Suresh Prabhu.
Goa’s two airports will have passenger handling capacity of 3 crores from 2020 onwards, he said.
Goa as an market destination has attracted international carriers including Singapore Airlines and Lufthansa. fii-news.com
