SICCI sees TPP benefits for members
The Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) plans to work with its local Chinese counterpart on China’s One Belt One Road Initiative (BRI).
“SICCI will work very clossely with the Chinese Chamber on the One Belt One Road Initiative for the benefit of its members,” said Dr T. Chandroo, newly elected SICCI chairman.
SICCI would also help members benefit through the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) signed early this year, he added on taking charge of the business group after the annual general meeting held 26 April 2018.
The multi-billion BRI and trade promoting TPP are among the latest mega initiatives promoting global connectivity for borderless trades.
Leveraging on Singapore chairmanship of Asean 2018, “we will partner with other chambers with a view to form working relations with them,” said Dr Chandroo, who is chairman and chief executive officer of Modern Montessori International, a regional education institute with schools in India.
He also listed out plans to help SICCI members adopt Fintech and Innovation.
“We plan to encourage members in the brick and mortar business to embracce e-commerce and digital media and increasingly internationalize themselves,” he said.
Dr Chandroo and the new board was elected on 16 April 2018.
