DMIC gets eight NIMZs
Final approvals have been given to three National Investment & Manufacturing Zones (NIMZs) while eight Investment Regions along the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) project have been declared as NIMZs.
Stating this in Lok Sabha, Minister of State of Commerce and Industry, C. R. Chaudhary, said in-principle approval have also been given to 13 other NIMZs.
The approved NIMZs are Prakasam (Andhra Pradesh), Sangareddy (Telangana) and Kalinganagar (Odisha).
NIMZs are based on the principle of industrial growth in partnership with States and focuses on manufacturing growth and employment generation.
NIMZs are different from export-oriented Special Economic Zones in terms of size, level of infrastructure planning, governance structures related to regulatory procedures, and exit policies, he explained in a written reply to the Lok Sabha on 27 Dec 2018.
NIMZs are important instruments of National Manufacturing Policy, 2011. These are envisaged as large areas of developed land with the requisite eco-system for promoting world class manufacturing activity, said the minister. fiinews.com
