Projects on NH Corridors
Ninety-three Road Over Bridges (ROBs) have been sanctioned for Rs.7,121 crore as part of a safer crossing on all National Highway Corridors.
Contracts for 57 ROBs have been awarded, Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways, Mansukh Mandaviya, said on 1 Jan 2019.
All crossings on National Highways, as ROBs or Road Under Bridges (RUBs) are to cost Rs.50,800 crore when completed in 2020.
The Minister said 174 ROBs/RUBs have been identified.
Works of 57 ROBs have already been awarded.
The ROBs/RUBs are generally constructed as a part of major highways development project.
The National Highway Authority of India, which is handling major highways, is involved in 515 ROBs/RUBs.
The Ministry has planned ROBs/RUBs and replacement, widening, strengthening of weak and narrow bridges under a scheme Setu Bharatam to ensure safe and smooth flow of traffic and to reduced road fatalities by 50% by 2020. fiinews.com
