BHEL to provide expertise in renewables
State-owned gas company GAIL India Ltd has signed a memorandum of understanding with Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) for development of solar power projects.
GAIL will be the project developer while BHEL will be engineering, procurement, construction and project management contractor, said a statement on 29 Mar 2019.
BHEL will also provide operation and maintenance services during the initial period of a developed project.
GAIL operates a 11,400-km of high-pressure trunk pipelines and is working on over 5,400-km pipelines with investment of about Rs.24,000 crore. It is also expanding into renewables, including solar and wind. it runs India’s second largest rooftop solar PV power plant at Pata petrochemical complex in Uttar Pradesh.
BHEL manufactures a range of power plant equipment. Its expertise include design, manufacturing, installation and commissioning of solar power plant over three decades. fiinews.com
