Desalination plant in Gujarat
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has highlighted the possibility of big hospitals in small towns and as much as about 2,000-3,000 big new hospitals being set up throughout the country.
“A large area will be developed. When one hospital is set up, it provides employment to thousands of people. They require people for every big and small task like technicians etc,” he said, dedicating Guru Gobind Singh Hospital to the Nation in Jamnagar on 27 May 2019.
“The nation will be swept up with revolution in the field of healthcare,” said Modi, adding that more than 15,000 major private hospitals in the country have agreed to cooperate with the government in the work on healthcare focused on poor.
He noted the problem with water, especially in Gujarat.
Even after starting the massive ‘SAUNI’ scheme, the need for water is still not fulfilled looking at the Gujarat’s water scenario that lacks perennial rivers and sufficient rainfall.
“Therefore, there is a need to frame a scheme to convert sea water into sweet water on a large scale by spending crores,” said Modi.
The foundation stone of one such project has been laid on 27 May 2019. The desalination plant is to turn the sea water into sweet water and distributing it to the people, said the Prime Minister.
“Today, several projects related to the railways have also been framed. The work of electrification, gauge conversion, double lining etc. is going on at double the speed compared to earlier” he said.
“This is not something new for you. You have already seen me working before. But the people of the country are surprised that such a thing can happen too.
“Everything is possible when one does the work. Today this is happening in the country. Modern railways, coaches and everything is being done at double the pace compared to before,” Modi assured the people of India on returning to run a second term of his government following a decisive win in the 2019 General Election.
He also highlighted Rs.15 lakh subsidy for fishermen to acquire deep sea fishing vessels and improve their incomes. fiinews.com
