Exporters to meet with international buyers
Trade and economic relations between India and China have seen rapid progress in the last few years with bilateral trade reaching US$87.06 billion in 2018-19 from a low of US$2.92 billion in 2000-01.
In 2018-19, India’s export to China touched US$16.75 billion showing a growth of 25.62% while China’s export to India were US$70.31 billion with balance of trade highly in favor of China.
Better market accesses have been provided to many Indian exports recently, said the Federation of Indian Export Organiations (FIEO) in assessing the bilateral trade on 6 June 2019 ahead of participation in the 2019 South & South East Asia Commodity Expo and Investment Fair (SSACEIF) being held in Kunming 12-18 June 2019.
Over the last two decades, India-China trade has changed drastically, said FIEO.
“With the rapidly changing trade dynamics and the rising protectionism, China closer to home, has proved to be one of the major destinations for Indian exports under the current global trade scenario and an obvious immediate alternate to India’s traditional markets USA and Europe,” said the federation.
With an objective to further enhance trade and also encourage small and medium enterprises to establish trade linkages with China, FIEO is participating in the 2019 South & South East Asia Commodity Expo and Investment Fair (SSACEIF).
FIEO will be holding both B2B and B2C meetings at the Kunming Dianchi International Convention and Exhibition Center with participation from 128 booths and companies from all over India.
The SSACEIF will be a good opportunity for Indian businesses and industry associations, to showcase their products not only to Chinese buyers but also to more than 80 countries who will participate in the event, said FIEO.
Mahesh Chandra Keyal, Vice President, FIEO will lead a Pan India delegation of exhibitors and will deliver an address at the China South Asia Business Forum.
Sushil Patwari, Regional Chairman (ER), FIEO and Dr Ajay Sahai, Director General & CEO, FIEO are also part of the delegation.
Considering the proximity and the logistics convenience, FIEO foresees huge potential for exports in the near future which is growing steadily and has accordingly beefed up participation in the event. fiinews.com
