Prospects in tourism sector
Puducherry Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy has invited Singapore investors to participate in the economic development programmes of the Union Territory which posts double-digit GDP growth annually.
Puducherry, a former French colony, was similar in many ways with Singapore such as culture, lifestyle, education, health and welfare schemes, he told delegates said at The Economic Times Asian Business Leaders Conclave 2019 held on 8 Nov 2019.
“We are second to none. Therefore, I call on you to come to our Puducherry and, if you feel right, come and invest.”
He highlighted the prospects in the UT’s tourism sector, saying 20% tourists were from Europe.
“But we are not able to cater to the needs of the tourists,” said the Chief Minister, giving the potential of investments in the tourism sector.
“We want the development in Puducherry,” he said assuring that Pondicherry is a very peaceful place.
He also underlined the importance of innovation across India including Puducherry which enjoys 11.4% GDP growth with focus on agriculture, industries, tourism, infrastructure among others.
Narayanasamy, in Singapore to promote industries in the UT, work out bilateral investments with Singapore.
“Our people also can come and invest in Singapore which is a safe place for investment,” he said. fiinews.com
