CII to launch Global Unicorn series soon
The Government will help the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) create a global platform that may include like-minded countries such as the US, Japan, EU, Singapore, Canada, South Africa and Brazil to work collectively towards the development of potential new businesses across the globe.
Also, CII would soon launch the Global Unicorn series under the auspices of SoftBank India with the participation of unicorns from the US, EU, Japan, Australia, Singapore, Israel and South Korea to share their journey to glory.
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal at the Future Business Group’s (FBG) launch over a digital platform on 3 Sept 2020, participated by business leaders and Indian unicorns.
The group holds an immense potential to script an inclusive growth story by new-age ideas, technology and innovation the masses and to position India on a strong foundation in the global business arena.
The Indian industry can come together to create a pool of capital that can be utilized towards supporting new businesses and research, said Goyal.
He also appealed to Indian Industry to engage with youth to encourage entrepreneurship, through providing skills and mentorship.
The whole process of developing disruptive technologies and business models will be accelerated by the CII-crafted FBG, added Sanjiv Bajaj, Vice President, CII and Chairman and Managing Director, Bajaj Finserv Limited.
India has played a key role in digital technologies in the last 10 years, now the time is ripe for the country to make the next big leap, Bajaj pointed out.
The FBG launch “will send a powerful message to all the entrepreneurs of present and future about our efforts to encourage and incubate the businesses of future”, asserted Manoj Kohli Country Head, SoftBank India and the Chairman of the CII FBG.
Going further India can lead the Future Business Group forum for G20 countries, he added.
The FBG is envisaged as a strong initiative towards strengthening the new age businesses, CII Director General Chandrajit Banerjee.
Banerjee highlighting the fact that enabling and conducive system plays a key role in the growth of the business. The Minister also accepted Banerjee’s proposal to have a joint working group with DPIIT to formulate the national strategy and focus on sector-wise reforms.
The FBG has been constituted to support the emergence of new-age businesses, attract global investment in new businesses in India and to foster government-industry cooperation to help develop new policies to support innovative businesses.
The group’s theme is ‘Nurturing the existing new businesses and fast-tracking the entry and growth of new businesses in India for getting growth back”.
