First of the 17 CNG-station launched in Jodhpur
AG&P, the Singapore-based global downstream LNG and gas logistics company, sees an increasing demand and accelerated switch to CNG-fuelled vehicles in India, as it launched a 17-CNG station programme on 24 Oct 2020, the first being in Jodhpur.
“We expect to see an increasing and accelerated switch to CNG-fuelled vehicles and create a healthier environment for our families,” said Manish Goswami, Chief Operations Officer, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu & Andhra Pradesh and Head, Technical Services, AG&P at the inauguration of the first station at Jodhpur.
Underlining its support to India’s objectives of having a gas-based economy, AG&P said it will be opening seven stations in November and December and nine in 2021 in the country.
“We will be expanding our network of CNG stations by nine more stations in 2021, of which two stations will be wholly-owned by AG&P Pratham,” added Goswami in a release on 24 Oct 2020.
In line with the Government’s vision of transforming India into a gas-based economy, the AG&P Pratham CNG station, co-located with the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) at COCO Bhagat Ki Kothi, Main Basni Road, near Diesel Loco Shed, gives vehicle owners access to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), an inexpensive, safe and clean alternative to the traditional costly and heavy polluting fuels such as diesel and petrol.
Offering superior fuel-efficiency, significantly improved mileage and a reduction in maintenance costs to generate considerable savings, CNG has rapidly emerged as the fuel of choice for vehicle-owners.
CNG can be used in almost any vehicle, including cars, auto-rickshaws and heavy-duty transit vehicles such as buses and trucks. CNG is also safer than traditional fuels, with the strongest safety record, because it is non-toxic and lighter than air, enabling it to evaporate into the atmosphere and reducing the risk of fire.
The rapid development of CNG stations across Jodhpur will provide the opportunity for drivers and vehicle owners to generate higher savings and significantly grow their earnings, said AG&P Pratham.
In areas where CNG is already available, auto-rickshaw drivers and taxi and car rental owners, for both AC and non-AC car models, have reported up to a 55% increase in their savings after switching from petrol to CNG-fueled vehicles, along with an increase in their earning, it said.
AG&P Pratham, India, is the City Gas Distribution (CGD) arm of the Singapore-based AG&P Group, a leading downstream LNG and gas logistics company.
AG&P holds 12 CGD licences awarded by the Petroleum & Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) to exclusively provide natural gas for everyday use in 31 districts in Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala.
The exclusive rights cover the supply of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to households, industrial, commercial, non-commercial and non-domestic exempt commercial (NDEC) establishments, as well as Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for use in vehicles. These CGD networks will cover 278,000 square kilometres, 17,000 inch-km of pipeline and over 1,500 new CNG stations.@energy #naturalgas #petroleum #OPEC #fuel #renewables /fiinews.com
