APEDA organized several Virtual Buyer Seller Meets
Twenty-eight projects, with project costs of Rs.320.33 crores and supported with a grant of Rs.107.42 crores, has been approved under the Scheme of Creation/Expansion of Food Processing and Preservation Capacities (CEFPPC)
The Inter-Ministerial Approval Committee (IMAC) meeting chaired by the Minister of Food Processing Industries Narendra Singh Tomar, gave the approval on 21 Nov 2020.
The projects are spread over 10 states are the processing is likely to generate employment for nearly 10,000 people.
These projects will create a processing capacity of 1,237 tonnes daily and are spread across the states of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Maharastra, J&K, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Assam, and Manipur.
The 28 projects also include six projects of north Eastern states with costs of Rs.48.87 crore supported with a grant of Rs.20.35 crores, said the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) which is giving the grants.
Meanwhile, APEDA has organised Virtual Buyer Seller Meets with potential importing Countries for product promotion of Indian Agri products
the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) is facilitating the export of its scheduled products through several promotional activities, such as organizing International Buyer-Seller Meets, the participation of exporters in leading trade events in the potential importing countries, and product promotion programmes in specific markets.
These initiatives have popularized the Indian Agri products globally and facilitated exporters to reach the global market, said the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the parent of APEDA.
During the COVID 19 pandemic period, APEDA organized several Virtual Buyer Seller Meets (VBSM) in collaboration with the Indian Missions abroad.
In October 2020, APEDA organised VBSM with potential importing countries such as UAE, South Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Kuwait and Iran.
Besides, product-specific Virtual Networking Meets were also organised with countries such as Singapore, Russia, Belgium, Switzerland, Sweden & Latvia for fresh fruits and vegetables, with Canada for organic products and with the USA and UAE for GI products.
These Virtual Meetings provided a platform for interaction between the India exporters and importers on the strength of India in the export of Agri products such as Basmati and Non-Basmati Rice, Grapes, Mangoes, Banana, Pomegranates, Fresh vegetables, Organic products etc.
