Roads with inbuilt utilities
TATA Projects Limited said it has completed two ‘smart roads’ built by the company in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, with all utility connections for next 50 years have been considered
These smart roads will not have to be dug up in future for installing utilities such as sewers, water supply, storm water drains, and underground electrical & optical fibre lines, said Tata Projects in a release on 15 Mar 2021.
The 465-m Road Number 2, which included alignment, runs from Zero Point Bridge to Gyaneshwari Mata Temple and the 412-m Road Number 4 with alignment is from Bela Patra Mahadev Temple to Jain Mandir.
In addition, the roads have cycle tracks and also various beautification initiatives such as greenery measures on periphery. While the earlier road did not even have basic footpath – the newly opened roads have wide footpaths for pedestrians to safely and comfortably walk.
These smart roads were undertaken by Ujjain Smart City Ltd (USCL) in the well-known temple town of Ujjain which is also a famous pilgrimage centre with the Kumbh Mela held here every 12 years.
The roads were inaugurated recently at a ceremony attended by Dr. Mohan Yadav, the Madhya Pradesh Minister for Higher Education, Anil Firojiya – Member of Parliament (Ujjain), Khitij Singhal – Ujjain Municipal Commissioner and Paras Jain, a former MLA.
