Tomar calls on farmers to use technology and reduce farming costs
The Government is expeditiously investing Rs.6,865 crore on 10,000 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) while another Rs.11,000 crore is being spent on Oil Palm Mission to meet the shortage of oilseeds in the domestic market and reduce dependence on imports.
This update was given by Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar at the conclusion of a 3-day mega agricultural fair, exhibition and training programme on 13 Nov 2022.
“If farmers use technology, then the new generation will also draw its benefit as employment opportunities will be created in the villages,” he said.
Tomar also underlined several concrete measures for the overall development of the agriculture sector.
“There is so much power in the agricultural economy that if there is any crisis in the country, then the agriculture sector can be its saviour,” he said.
“Earlier agriculture related schemes were production-oriented but today’s policies are being implemented on increasing the farmers income.”
He also wants to see the cost of farming reduced and farmers’ income increased, adding that products should be of high quality.
