Investment made on new lines, Gauge Conversion
Indian Railways has reported approx. 75% capital expenditure (Capex) utilization (highest ever) in the first nine months of this Financial Year till December 2023, spending Rs.195,929.97 crores of the Rs.2.62 lakh crores allocated.
This year, Capex Utilization is approx. 33% more in comparison to the last year’s corresponding period when the Railways had spent Rs.146,248.73 crores.
“This investment is seen in various infrastructure projects like New Lines, Doubling, Gauge Conversion and enhancing passenger amenities,” the Ministry of Railways said on 29 Jan 2024.
“Safety of the passengers is paramount in Railways. Significant sum has been invested in enhancing the safety related works,” it added. fiinews.com
