PM officiates on Rs.55,600cr projects in North East region
The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has laid the foundation stone of 2,880 MW Dibang Multipurpose Hydropower Project of NHPC Limited in Lower Dibang Valley district of Arunachal Pradesh on 9 Mar 2024.
The Prime Minister https://www.pmindia.gov.in/en/ also inaugurated, dedicated to the nation and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth about Rs.55,600 crores in Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh.
The projects https://www.globaltenders.com/ cover sectors like rail, road, health, housing, education, border infrastructure, IT, Power, oil and gas, among others.
Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister noted, “To be built at a cost of more than Rs.31,875 crores, the Dibang project will be the highest dam structure in the country.”
It will generate 11,223 million units of Hydropower every year, providing clean and green energy to be fed into the Northern Grid.
The 278-m dam is to be constructed with Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) technique and it will be the highest RCC Dam https://ted.europa.eu/en/ of the World.
With a construction period of 108 months, the project is scheduled to be commissioned in February 2032.
The Dibang project will provide 12% free power and an additional 1% free power for Local Area Development Fund for development of Arunachal Pradesh.
It is designed as an energy storage project, with flood moderation as one of the key objectives, besides power generation. For the purpose of flood moderation, a capacity of 1,282.60 million cubic meters will be created by keeping the reservoir below the Full Reservoir Level in monsoon.
During the programme, the Prime Minister launched a new Industrial Development Scheme https://www.meed.com/latest/tenders for North East, UNNATI (Uttar Poorva Transformative Industrialization Scheme) worth Rs.10,000 crore.
Fully funded by the Government of India and covers all 8 North Eastern States, the scheme will provide incentives for capital investment, interest subvention and a manufacturing & services linked incentive to the approved units.
The Sela Tunnel https://ec.europa.eu/info/funding-tenders/opportunities/portal/screen/home project, constructed at a cost of about Rs 825 crore is an engineering marvel. It will provide all-weather connectivity to Tawang across Sela Pass on the Balipara-Chariduar-Tawang Road in Arunachal Pradesh. It has been constructed using the new Austrian Tunnelling Method and incorporates safety features of the highest standards.
He dedicated and laid the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth more than Rs 41,000 crore in Arunachal Pradesh.
Other main projects:
Double lane road from Donyi-Polo airport to Naharlagun railway station, among others.
About 1,100 projects of Jal Jeevan Mission, 170 telecom towers under Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) benefiting more than 300 villages, among others.
Inaugurated and foundation stones laid of several development projects worth more than Rs.3,400 crores in Manipur.
Foundation stones were laid include the construction of Unity Mall at Nilakuthi; Development of infrastructure of the Processing Zone of Manipur IT SEZ at Mantripukhri; Construction of 60-bedded state Hospital in Lampjhelpat to provide specialized psychiatric care; and Development of infrastructure for Manipur Technical University, Imphal West District.
Inaugurated and foundation stones laid of several development projects worth more than Rs.1,700 crores in Nagaland. Projects included upgradation of capacity transformation at 132kv sub-station Nagarjan, Dimapur.
Inaugurated and foundation stones laid for of multiple development projects worth more than Rs.290 crores in Meghalaya. These included construction of IT Park at Tura and construction of new four-lane road and conversion of existing two-lane into four-lane at New Shillong Township.
Inaugurated and foundation stones laid for more than Rs.450 crores projects in Sikkim. These included re-development of Rangpo Railway Station and several road projects as well as a new road connecting Tharpu and Daramdin in Sikkim.
In Tripura, more than Rs.8,500 crore projects were inaugurated and foundation stones laid. These included Agartala Western Bypass and multiple road projects across the state; Indian Oil Corporation’s new Depot at Sekerkote to be constructed as well as Rs.230 crore Land Port at Sabroom in South Tripura district. The Sabroom Land Port is located along the international border between India and Bangladesh. The land port will provide facilities like the Passenger Terminal Building, Cargo Administrative Building, Warehouse, fire station building, electrical substation, pump house, etc. It is 75 km away as opposed to moving to Kolkata/Haldia Port.
