Allocation approved for upgrading Ujjain Railway Station-Mahakaleshwar Temple ropeway
Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has sanctioned highway and road projects https://www.globaltenders.com/ worth Rs.1,885.51 crore on 15 March 2024.
He has allocated Rs.576.22 crore for the 4-laning of the Yedegowdanahalli to Arjunahalli segment of NH-373 https://ted.europa.eu/en/ in Hassan district, Karnataka, spanning 22.3 km,
Gadkari said this corridor serves as a vital link to renowned tourist destinations such as Chikamagaluru, Belur, Halebeedu, and Shravanabelagola. The project’s implementation promises enhanced connectivity, poised to invigorate tourism and stimulate economic endeavors within the region.
He has also sanctioned Rs.421.15 crore for construction https://www.meed.com/latest/tenders of a 4-lane Gauripur Bypass along NH-17 (New)/NH-31(Old) in Dhubri district, Assam. The project is from Dumardoha Pt-II to the Baladmara road in Dhubri district.
The Minister said the 9.61-km project aims to alleviate congestion in Gauripur town and mitigate risks associated with sharp bends on the current highway, thereby enhancing safety. The implementation of this bypass, equipped with comprehensive road safety measures, is anticipated to contribute significantly to the reduction of accidents in the region.
He has allocated Rs.699.19 crore for upgrading Khokhra Gujarat Border – Vijayanagar – Antarsuba – Mathasur Road section of National Highway 58 in Palanpur district of Gujarat to 2-lane with PS (paved shoulder).
He pointed out that National Highway-58 connects Gujarat and Rajasthan and also connects Ambaji Temple, Udaipur, Polo Forest and other archaeological monuments and various tourist places. This section of National Highway 58 is proposed to upgrade the existing single/two lane road to 2 lanes with PS and involves realignment in 14 stretches passing through hilly terrain. The project will provide better connectivity and boost economic activities in the region.
He has approved Rs.188.95 crore for development, operation and maintenance of the existing ropeway between Ujjain Junction Railway Station and Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain district of Madhya Pradesh under Hybrid Annuity Mode.
The proposed ropeway https://www.poma.net/en/ will help in movement especially during the peak pilgrimage season and reduce the travel time to 7 minutes for 64,000 pilgrims every day.
