Biotech industry has grown to $140bn
Minister of State Dr Jitendra Singh has highlighted India’s progress in science and technology, briefing an American business delegation on the US$140 billion strong Biotech industry with a base of 4,000+ companies.
NISAR, a joint mission of NASA and ISRO, is also evidence of India’s prowess in the Space sector, he told the delegation of US-India Business Council (USIBC) which was led by Edward Knight, Executive Vice Chairman of Nasdaq http://nasdaq.com , as well as Interim Chairman of USIBC’s Global Board of Directors http://uschamber.com .

Having their offices in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru in India and headquartered in Washington D.C., the USIBC is also part of the US Chamber of Commerce https://usispf.org/ .
Dr Singh, Minister of State for Science and Technology http://dst.gov.in , spoke about the Government’s plans for Quantum technology, Artificial Intelligence, critical metals and semiconductors for which he sought increased cooperation between India and the United States.
He emphasized on the government’s vision in Artificial Intelligence http://openai.com and Machine Learning and expressed optimism over its integration with the AI task force developed by USIBC.
The Minister also underlined deployment of greenfield renewable energy, battery storage and emerging green technology projects in India.
He informed the visiting delegation that India is now a frontline nation in next generation technologies and the progress of the Anusandhan NRF which is on the similar lines of the National Research Foundation in the US http://nsf.gov .
