Namaste Bharat bridges India’s rich past with its vibrant future at Singapore expo, says Kamath
India and Singapore will celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations next year with cultural programmes and festivals, focusing on people-to-people relations, Indian envoy Dr Shilpak Ambule said in Singapore on 5 Oct.
An elaborate programme will be worked out for next year’s celebration, the Indian High Commissioner to Singapore said at the inauguration of ‘Namaste Bharat’, a trade show, displaying India’s soft-power.
Dr Ambule appreciated a wide range of performances staged by cultural, traditional, folk-dance groups, mostly by students from India-origin schools in the city state at the show-cum-cultural event held 4-6 Oct.
“We don’t realize the full potential of our soft power. It is this tradition of dance and culture which binds us together, which we should propagate,” he told a gathering of more than 300 guests and visitors at the show.
“I am very happy that we have platforms and groups here that actively promote our classical dance, folk dance and traditional instruments and the art work which defines India.”
Dr Ambule praised a wide range of ‘made in India’ products showcased at the exhibition, and pointed out the Indian Government’s ‘One-District One-Product’ scheme.
Elaborating on the scheme, he called for promotion of one product from each district ranging from arts and food products, urged the Indian diaspora at the event to further promote such products in Singapore and elsewhere.
“Namaste Bharat is more than just an exhibition, it’s a celebration of India’s spirit. Each year, we bridge India’s rich past with its vibrant future. This 12th edition is once again showcasing New India’s inspiring journey and the limitless opportunities it holds for businesses and communities alike,” said Purnima Kamath, Founder & CEO of De Ideaz, the Singapore-based show organizers.
“The grandeur of New India is being experienced at Namaste Bharat 2024 in Singapore, as the event continues to be a testament to India’s evolving influence on the global stage,” she said, reflected on the mega event held annually in Singapore. Fiinews.com
