Importance underlined for the ongoing research projects on India at Oslo-based CICERO
Dr. Karen Landmark, Chair of the Board, Greenstat Asia, has called for strengthening of the bilateral cooperation between India and Norway through Centre of Excellences for Hydrogen capacity building.
The goal of India in being self reliant reflects the need for rapid R&D and technology deployment in areas of electrolyzers, storage and transfer. It also reflects on setting up of pilot plants to test technology and to speed up the process of commercialization, Dr. Karen said at a roundtable on climate.
The Environment Committee of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry organised a Round Table Discussion No. 1 Post International Climate Summit 2021 on 3 December 2021 with
Dr. Karen also highlighted COP-26 summit’s call to countries to renew efforts to raise ambitions on cutting emissions and increase climate financing.
Solveig Aamodt, Senior Researcher, Climate Policy Group at CICERO, underlined the importance of ongoing research projects on India at Oslo-based Centre for International Climate and Environmental Research (CICERO) in collaboration with various Indian Institutes.
She also discussed the importance of climate policies in mitigating climate change at the roundtable.
Among other speakers, Ed Gillespie, Director, Greenpeace UK, gave an insightful presentation to deliberate on the gravity of climate change mitigation.
In his presentation, he compared the climate change situation similar to the COVID-19 situation wherein he said that there is a need to implement climate protective measures in order to “flatten the curve”.
Gillespie highlighted how the 10% richest population worldwide are responsible for almost half of total lifestyle consumption emissions.
Lastly, he said that there is need for system innovation, redesign and transformation in order to regenerate the ecosystem.
The need of the hour is a transformational system change that calls for increased international cooperation, added PHDCCI President Pradeep Multani.
“It is clearly apparent that climate crises are inter-linked and that we need to deal with them holistically,” Multani told the roundtable. fiinews.com
