One-of-a-kind Robotic Processing Automation hackathon will train college students
Honeywell believes it is imperative to build a future-ready workforce that is equipped to meet the demands of Industry 4.0 and it is even more important to ensure that the most marginalized are offered the right skills and opportunities to be part of this workforce.

“It is even more important to ensure that the most marginalized are offered the right skills and opportunities to be part of this workforce,” said Maguire at the launch the Honeywell India Youth Teckathon 2022.
“The Honeywell Student Empowerment Program seeks to make new-age technical skills accessible and affordable for thousands of students,” she said on 26 May 2022.
Honeywell Hometown Solutions India Foundation (HHSIF), the philanthropic arm of Honeywell, has partnered with the Government-backed ICT Academy for an open hackathon to enable students to build and deploy basic software-based robots.
The event seeks to help students build, enhance and test their Robotic Process Automation (RPA) literacy.
This initiative is in continuation of the Honeywell Student Empowerment Program, which trains young men and women on advanced technologies such as cloud, big data, networking, RPA, artificial intelligence and machine learning-skills that prepare them for the future of work.
The program is being driven in partnership with ICT Academy. The curriculum and certification are provided by UiPath Academic Alliance.
“As technologies rapidly evolve, skilling will be key to employment and economic development,” added Hari Balachandran, Chief Executive Officer, ICT Academy.
“At ICT Academy, we continuously strive to develop a sustainable skill ecosystem right from the bottom of the pyramid by collaborating with corporates, government, and academia.
“This teckathon is a step forward to serve society and will enable needy students to get trained in technologies required in the fourth industrial revolution,” said Balachandran, adding, “Technology has become a part of every business.”

HHSIF has partnered with ICT Academy to deploy the Honeywell Student Empowerment Program, which offers a globally recognized certificate that will benefit bright students from marginalized sections of society.
HHSIF and ICT Academy have established 50 Centers of Excellence for Youth Empowerment in tier-1 and tier-2 cities across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra.
The upskilling program will empower 15,000 students-half of whom are women-through the project cycle and provide job placements, said Honeywell in a statement from Chennai.
HHSIF is a not-for-profit organization that deploys Honeywell’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts in five critical areas: education, skill and research, gender equality, natural resources and the environment, holistic rural development, and disaster management. HHSIF’s programs include Honeywell STEM Education for Youth, a skilling program for women and youth to build a future-ready workforce; Honeywell Model Village for holistic rural development; Honeywell Start-up Support Program for incubation in deep science; Honeywell Center for Advancing Girls in Science at Avasara Academy to promote STEM education among girls; and Honeywell COVID-19 relief.
ICT Academy is an initiative of the Indian Government in collaboration with the state Governments and Industries.
