MoU approved for improving cargo shipments

India and Bangladesh will jointly dredge rivers and waterways between the two countries to improve cargo movement to North Eastern India.
The dredging will be done as part of the fairway development of Ashuganj-Zakiganj stretch of Kushiyara river and Sirajganj-Daikhawa stretch of Jamuna river.
The improved transportation on waterways will also reduce the congestion through the Siliguri Chicken’s Neck corridor, which pass over bangladesh.
The Indian cabinet has approved a memorandum of understanding on 5 April 2017 as part of the work covering the rivers between the two countries. fii-news.com
