Cost sharing worked out
India and Bangladesh have decided to undertake dredging in two stretches of Indo-Bangladesh Protocol route i.e. Zakiganj-Ashuganj of Kushiyara river and Sirajganj-Daikhowa of Jamuna river in Bangladesh so as to develop the protocol route for round the year navigation.
India and Bangladesh have agreed to adopt a cost sharing ratio of 80:20.
The dredging operation is to be executed jointly by the two Governments.
This was agreed during the meeting of the Shipping Secretaries in Dhaka on 7 Dec 2016, said Minister of State for Shipping Mansukh L Mandaviya in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha on 18 Dec 2017. fii-news.com
