Russian technology for Indian security
The Indo-Russian Rifles Pvt Ltd will manufacture world famous Kalashnikov assault rifles of the newest 200 series, said Russian President Vladimir Putin at the launch of the joint venture factory at Korwa in Amethi.
“(It) eventually will reach full localization of production. Thus, the Indian defence-industrial sector will have the opportunity to fulfill the needs of national security agencies in this category of small arms, resting upon advanced Russian technologies,” Putin wrote in a special message.
The Kalashnikov series AK-203 rifle is the latest derivative of the legendary AK-47 rifle.
The joint venture, between the two countries, is to manufacture 750,000 assault rifles which would be given to the army’s infantry troops.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on 3 Mar 2019 the beginning of rifle production at Amethi’s ordnance factory at Korwa.
He also laid the Foundation Stone and dedicated various development projects in Amethi. fiinews.com
