Approved: Surat-Nashik-Ahmednagar-Solapur to Chennai Greenfield Expressway
Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has virtually inaugurated and laid foundations of several highway projects worth Rs.1,678 crore in Nashik on 4 Oct 2021, saying the connectivity with the city in Maharashtra will increase when these major roads are completed. These are 206-km projects.
The Greenfield Expressway project from Surat-Nashik-Ahmednagar-Solapur to Chennai has been approved by the Ministry of Roads, Transport and Highways, he said.
This is an access control route and after completion of the project, the distance between Surat to Solapur will be reduced to 95 km and the distance to travel from Surat to Chennai will be reduced to about 200 km. The project is expected to be completed in 3 years.
He also announced that six lanes of 20 km route from Pimprisado village to Gonde village and elevated corridor from Nashik Road to Dwarka would be constructed as part of the developments.
The six-lane 20-km Pimpri-Chinchwad to Gonde will cost an estimated Rs.600 crore. It includes 10 underpasses and a service road.
Nashik Road to Dwarka Chowk project is a part of Nashik-Pune (R.M. No. 50) and recently has been included in the Bharatmala project. The project will clear congestion at Vdarka Chowk and the journey from Nashik Road to Dwarka will be done in half time, said the Minister.
