Madhya Pradesh air activities have increased by 48%, says Scindia

Home Minister Amit Shah has laid the foundation stone of a Rs.450+ crore terminal building of Gwalior Airport which will have a runway to accommodate A-320 and ATR-72 types of aircraft.

The 172-acre new terminal building is designed to handle 1,400 passengers during peak compared to the 29-acre present terminal capacity of handling 200 passengers at peak.

The apron will have a parking capacity for 13 aircraft, which is 4 times higher than the current capacity.

A cargo terminal will also be established to transport output from the state’s regional industries across the country and abroad.

Environment protective technologies like rainwater harvesting and solar energy will be installed on the new terminal.

In the last one year, the air activities of Madhya Pradesh have increased by 48%, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia said at the foundation stone laying ceremony on 16 Oct 2022.

Today 821 aircraft are operating every week across Madhya Pradesh, up from 554 earlier.

Gwalior will be connected with Bangalore six days a week by SpiceJet aircraft and one day a week by Boeing 737.

Moreover, Gwalior will be connected with Mumbai by Airbus 321 four days a week. fiinews.com
