IGI capacity expansion planned
Capacity at #Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in New Delhi will be expanded, adding a fourth terminal and a runway in phases for handling 109.3 million passenger per annum from the existing 62 mppa.
The development works include expansion of Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, construction of a new Terminal 4, construction of new runway etc. in three phases starting from 2017 and till 2034, said a government press note on 15 March 2017.
IGI operators, #Delhi International Airport Private Limited (DIAL) has reviewed and updated the Master Plan of IGI Airport last year in consultation with the Airports Authority of India, Sovereign agencies providing reserved services at the airport and with other stakeholders.
DIAL has 4608.90 acres, sufficient for executing the expansion plan, said #Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Jayant Sinha in a written reply to a question in the #Rajya Sabha on 15 Mar 2017.
New technologies and best practices will be added in the expansion.
Design, project cost and other details are finalized in compliance with the Operation, Management and Development Agreement. fii-news.com
