Minister discussed advanced industrial technologies in Germany

Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal concluded his two-day official visit to Germany with a series of engagements during which he explored opportunities to expand business partnerships, investment and industrial cooperation between the two countries.

The Minister held individual meetings in Berlin on 23 Oct with CEO, Siemens Healthineers AG, Bernd Montag; Carsten Coesfeld, Member of the Executive Board of Bertelsmann and CEO, Bertelsmann Investments; and, CFO, Volkswagen AG and CEO, Škoda Auto, Holger Peters.

“The Minister met senior German government officials, business leaders, research institutions and members of the Indian diaspora. The engagements focused on strengthening India–Germany cooperation in trade, investment, advanced manufacturing, research and emerging technologies,” the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said on 24 Oct in New Delhi.

Goyal held a bilateral meeting with the Economic and Financial Policy Advisor and G7/G20 Sherpa at the German Federal Chancellery, Levin Holle. The discussions covered bilateral economic cooperation and opportunities to further strengthen economic and investment ties between India and Germany.

Goyal also participated in a roundtable with leaders of prominent German industrial research institutions to discuss cooperation in advanced industrial technologies and innovation. Separately, members of the accompanying Indian business delegation participated in sectoral roundtables with German industry representatives and sectoral associations to explore opportunities for bilateral business collaboration.

As part of his engagements with the research and innovation ecosystem, Goyal interacted with Indian science and technology researchers and students based in Germany. He also held a roundtable with heads of selected Fraunhofer Institutes, covering areas such as microelectronics, power electronics, logistics, smart manufacturing, industrial innovation and battery technologies. The discussions explored avenues for strengthening research collaboration and industry–academia partnerships between India and Germany.

“The engagements underscored the growing scope of the India–Germany Strategic Partnership, particularly in trade, investment, advanced manufacturing, science and technology, research and industrial cooperation,” the Ministry said. fiinews.com
